Matière Première
Matière Première is the house of perfumer Aurélien Guichard, who comes from Grasse. Each scent is built on an overdose of one natural material, and in 2016 he planted organic fields in Grasse, where the house grows the rose used in Radical Rose. Some bottles also come as testers. Every bottle is checked before it ships, with its batch code left readable. If it is not genuine, we collect it free and refund every dirham.

About Matière Première
Matière Première is French for "raw material", and that is the whole idea. Perfumer Aurélien Guichard builds each scent around an overdose of one natural ingredient, kept clear and direct. In 2016 he founded an organic, Ecocert-certified estate in his native Grasse, where the house grows roses and, since 2021, tuberoses for its own perfumes.
The range, one ingredient at a time
- Radical Rose: Centifolia rose absolute from flowers the house grows near Grasse, with saffron and patchouli. Eau de Parfum or Extrait.
- French Flower: tuberose, born from the idea of a tuberose field at night.
- Falcon Leather: birch tar from Finland, long used to tan leather, with saffron and oud.
- Santal Austral: organic Australian sandalwood oil.
- Neroli Oranger: Tunisian orange blossom and neroli.
- Vanilla Powder: Madagascar vanilla absolute with tonka bean. There is also a matching hair mist.
- Encens Suave, Crystal Saffron and Parisian Musc complete the range.
Is Matière Première sold as testers at AZ & CO?
Some are. Falcon Leather, French Flower, Neroli Oranger, Santal Austral and Vanilla Powder each have a tester option on the same page as the boxed bottle. Which Matière Première perfume is best for summer in the UAE?
Going by the notes, Neroli Oranger is the clearest summer pick, built on orange blossom, neroli and bergamot. Cedrat (bergamot, pepper, mate) and Parisian Musc, a clean ambrette musk, are also light. Falcon Leather, Encens Suave and Santal Austral are warmer and richer.
