Is Baccarat Rouge 540 Worth It? UAE Price, EDP vs Extrait, 70ml vs 200ml (2026)

By the AZ & CO teamPublished

Short answer: Baccarat Rouge 540 is worth it if you like an airy, sweet amber that works almost anywhere, and it is not worth it if you want something fresh and citrusy or you dislike sweetness. At AZ & CO, the 70ml Eau de Parfum costs AED 1,050 boxed and AED 850 as a tester, and the 70ml Extrait costs AED 1,480, against boutique prices of AED 1,320 and AED 1,700. For most people, the 70ml EDP tester is the best value, at about AED 12 per ml.

Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian is one of the most searched perfumes in the UAE, and searches for its price keep climbing. People ask the same things: is it worth the money, should I buy the EDP or the Extrait, is the bigger bottle better value, and can a man wear it. This page answers each one with the prices and stock we have today. We carry three versions in stock right now: the EDP boxed, the EDP tester and the Extrait boxed, all 70ml.

"You pay" shows our price and the size, with the strength (EDP is eau de parfum, Extrait is extrait de parfum) and whether it is boxed or a tester. "Boutique price" is the price we compare the bottle with, and the tester is compared with the same boutique price as the boxed bottle. The Character column sums up the notes in our description. It is not a wear test.

Is Baccarat Rouge 540 worth the money?

It is worth it if its style is your style, because there is little else that smells quite like it. Our description calls it airy, sweet and a little mineral: jasmine and saffron open it with a slightly metallic edge, an ambergris accord and dry amber woods give it a glowing middle, and a sweet, caramel-like note sits underneath.

The price is the hard part. At AED 1,050 for 70ml, the boxed EDP works out at AED 15 per ml. The tester brings that down to about AED 12 per ml, the same perfume for AED 200 less. Francis Kurkdjian first created it for the crystal maker Baccarat's 250th anniversary, which is where the name comes from.

Skip it if you dislike sweet scents, or if you want something that smells fresh and citrusy on a hot day. Skip it if you want a perfume few people around you will recognise: it is one of the most searched perfumes in the UAE, so people around you may well know it.

EDP or Extrait: which should I buy?

Buy the EDP if you want the famous airy, glowing version that suits almost any setting. Buy the Extrait if you want it deeper and richer: our description says it adds bitter almond and a soft, woody musk to the same idea.

The Extrait costs AED 1,480 for 70ml, which is AED 430 more than the boxed EDP, or about AED 21 per ml against AED 15. The two smell related but not the same, so think of the Extrait as a different perfume rather than a stronger EDP. In the UAE heat, the EDP is the easier daytime pick, and the Extrait is best kept for evenings, air-conditioned dinners and the cooler months from November to March.

Skip the Extrait if you love the EDP as it is. You would be paying more for a different scent, not more of the same one.

70ml or 200ml: which size is better value?

Right now, the 70ml is the only size we can deliver. Our 200ml Extrait tester is sold out today, and we do not stock the 200ml EDP.

A 200ml bottle usually costs less per ml, but it only pays off if you wear the perfume every day. For most people, 70ml is plenty, and it is easier to carry and to store away from the heat. If you want a 200ml, send us the name on WhatsApp and we will tell you the price and when we can deliver it.

Is Baccarat Rouge 540 for men or women?

Both. Maison Francis Kurkdjian makes it as a shared perfume, and nothing in its notes is built for one gender: jasmine and saffron, amber woods and a sweet, caramel-like base.

Men who like warm, sweet scents wear it as easily as women do. If you want it to read a little darker, the Extrait's bitter almond and woody musk give it more weight. For gift ideas by person, see our perfume gifts for him and perfume gifts for her.

Baccarat Rouge 540 or Grand Soir?

Pick Baccarat Rouge 540 if you want something airy and bright that works by day too. Pick Grand Soir, also by Maison Francis Kurkdjian, if you want a richer amber made for the evening.

Our description of Grand Soir says it opens with labdanum and orange, moves to lavender and benzoin, and settles on amber, vanilla and tonka bean, warm and soft like a dessert but not syrupy. It suits cold nights, autumn and winter. Grand Soir is sold out with us today. Ask us on WhatsApp and we will tell you when we can deliver it.

What else from Maison Francis Kurkdjian should I try?

If Baccarat Rouge 540 is too famous or too sweet for you, three other MFK bottles we have today lean different ways. All three are 70ml Eau de Parfum.

  • Gentle Fluidity Gold (tester, AED 730): juniper and nutmeg on vanilla, musk, caramel and amberwood. Our description calls it cosy and golden, sweet without being sugary.
  • Oud Silk Mood (AED 960): Bulgarian rose and chamomile on oud and papyrus. Soft rather than smoky, an easy way into oud.
  • Kurky (AED 860): peach, raspberry and gummy candies on white musk and vanilla. Playful and cheerful, for warm days.

Tester or boxed: which should I pick?

A tester is the same perfume in the brand's own tester box, new, unused and unsprayed. Only the box differs. The 70ml EDP tester costs AED 850, AED 200 less than the boxed bottle at AED 1,050. If it is a gift, the boxed bottle is the better choice. More in tester vs boxed perfume.

How do I know my bottle is real?

Every bottle is checked before it ships, and its batch code is left readable so you can check it with the house yourself. If a bottle is not genuine, we collect it free and refund every dirham, and you will not need to prove it. To check a bottle yourself, read how to check if a perfume is original.

Delivery is AED 25 anywhere in the UAE: same day in Dubai and Sharjah when you order by 10 AM, otherwise next day, and one day more elsewhere. Delivery is free on orders of AED 1,000 or more, and this works together with discount codes. You can pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard or Tabby (pay in 4).

Questions people ask

How much is Baccarat Rouge 540 in the UAE?

At AZ & CO, the 70ml Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum costs AED 1,050 boxed and AED 850 as a tester. The 70ml Extrait costs AED 1,480. The boutique prices we compare them with are AED 1,320 and AED 1,700.

Is the Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait worth it?

Only if you want a deeper, richer scent than the EDP. It adds bitter almond and a soft, woody musk, and costs AED 430 more for the same 70ml. If you love the EDP as it is, stay with the EDP.

Can men wear Baccarat Rouge 540?

Yes. It is made as a shared perfume, built on jasmine, saffron, amber woods and a sweet base, and it suits men who like warm, sweet scents.

Is a Baccarat Rouge 540 tester real?

Yes. A tester is the same perfume in the same bottle, sent out by the brand in a plain tester box. Ours are new, unused and unsprayed, and you save AED 200 on the 70ml EDP.

Is Baccarat Rouge 540 good for the UAE heat?

The EDP is the easier one in the heat, because it is airy rather than heavy, and our description says it suits any season. Go light on sprays on hot days. Keep the Extrait for evenings and the cooler months.
