Angels' Share or Angels' Share Paradis: which should I buy?

Buy Angels' Share if you want the original: cognac first, then oak and cinnamon, then a soft, sweet base of tonka, praline, vanilla and sandalwood. Our description calls it cosy and festive, a bit like dessert served with a glass of brandy.

Paradis keeps the cognac but adds raspberry at the start and Bulgarian rose in the middle, over tonka, oak and praline. Our description says it has a raspberry liqueur feel, and as an extrait it is denser than the original, so a couple of sprays are plenty. Both were made by perfumer Benoist Lapouza for Kilian's Liquors collection.

Today the choice is easy: we have Angels' Share in 50ml and 100ml, and Paradis is sold out. Send us the name on WhatsApp and we will tell you when we can deliver it.

Skip Paradis if you dislike fruity sweetness. Skip both if sweet, boozy scents feel too heavy for you.

Is Apple Brandy on the Rocks like Angels' Share?

Only in the drink theme. Apple Brandy on the Rocks is the fresher one: it opens cold and bright with bergamot and cardamom, and our description says it smells like a chilled drink with ice in the glass, more fresh and fruity than heavy and sweet. Its cedar and ambroxan base dries clean, while Angels' Share ends sweet and creamy.

That makes On the Rocks the better pick for warmer weather and nights out, and Angels' Share the better pick for winter. On the Rocks (50ml) is sold out today, so ask us on WhatsApp.

Skip On the Rocks if you want a rich vanilla dry-down.

Angels' Share vs Althaïr or Oajan: which is sweeter?

Angels' Share is the boozier one, and Althaïr is the more vanilla-led one. Althaïr by Parfums de Marly opens brighter, with bergamot, mandarin and elemi, then cinnamon and orange blossom lead into Bourbon vanilla and praline. Angels' Share starts with cognac and oak, so it feels darker and more like a drink than a dessert.

Oajan is an amber: honey and cinnamon on benzoin and labdanum, then vanilla and tonka. It is more resinous than either. At AZ & CO, Althaïr is AED 680 for 75ml (boxed) and Oajan is AED 850 for 125ml. Our Althaïr vs Layton vs Oajan guide compares those two in full.

Which other Kilian perfumes should I look at?

Old Fashioned is the one for whisky lovers. Our description says it is built to smell like aged single malt, with wheat and davana up top, honeyed immortelle and dry cedar in the middle, and smoky styrax and tolu balsam in the base. It is less sweet than Angels' Share. We have the 50ml boxed at AED 780.

Love Don't Be Shy is the sweet floral: orange blossom over a soft marshmallow note, with rose and honeysuckle. Perfumer Calice Becker made it for The Narcotics line. We have the 50ml at AED 800.

Sacred Wood is the quiet one: a creamy, milky sandalwood that our description calls skin close rather than loud. It has the biggest gap on this page: AED 740 for 100ml against a boutique price of AED 1,710.

Voulez-Vous Coucher Avec Moi is a lush white floral with gardenia and tuberose, launched in 2015. We have it as a 50ml tester at AED 570.

Black Phantom, the rum, coffee and chocolate gourmand by Sidonie Lancesseur, is sold out today. Smoking Hot is not in our range yet. For either, send us the name on WhatsApp.

Skip Love Don't Be Shy and Voulez-Vous if you want something for men only: both lean floral.

Which Kilian works best in the UAE heat?

Of the bottles we have today, none is a midday summer scent. Angels' Share, Old Fashioned and Sacred Wood are made for evenings, air-conditioned spaces and the cooler months from November to March. Apple Brandy on the Rocks, sold out today, is the freshest Kilian here, and our description suggests it for warmer weather. For more cool-season picks, see our best winter perfumes for the UAE.

Tester or boxed: which should I pick?

A tester is the same perfume in the brand's own tester box, new, unused and unsprayed. Only the box differs. Of these Kilian bottles, Voulez-Vous Coucher Avec Moi is the one we have as a tester today: AED 570 for 50ml. The others are boxed. If it is a gift, the boxed bottle is the better choice. More in tester vs boxed perfume.

If a bottle is not genuine, we collect it free and refund every dirham, and you will not need to prove it. To check a bottle yourself, read how to check if a perfume is original.
