Dominique Ropion for Éditions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, built around an exceptional oud essence. Juniper and pink pepper open it with a spicy, resinous freshness, then oud, vetiver and smoke take over the heart, and leather with amber closes it dark and enveloping. Malle publishes the perfumer's name on the bottle because the perfumer is the point. This is Ropion handling oud without the usual heaviness — smoky and leathery, but lifted by the pepper and juniper up top.
