About Stéphane Humbert Lucas
Stéphane Humbert Lucas is a Parisian perfumer, painter and poet. He studied painting in the south of France and says he sees his perfumes as colours, a trait called synaesthesia. His house, often shortened to SHL, calls itself an artistic house where no marketing concessions are welcome.
The two collections, in plain words
- La Collection 777: his first, launched in 2012 and shaped by his travels in the Middle East. Seven is a meaningful number for him. Soleil de Jeddah Mango Kiss, Panthea Iris and 2022 Generation Black belong here.
- La Collection Serpent: each scent tells a snake story from a different culture. God of Fire draws on the Aztec fire god Xiuhtecuhtli, Lady White Snake on an old Chinese legend, and Sea My Love on the legend of a sea serpent.

- The Queen and the Viper: bergamot, spearmint and blackcurrant buds over osmanthus and jasmine, then tobacco, dates and saffron.
- Sand Dance: whisky cream, mandarin and coriander over cocoa and sandalwood.
- Soleil de Jeddah Mango Kiss: chamomile, osmanthus and lemon, then ambergris, iris and earthy notes, on leather, iris and vanilla.
